Mental Health Awareness

Mental Health Awareness in Housing Services

Landlord/Housing Worker Engagement Session

Landlord/ Housing Worker Engagement Session

Understanding the impact of Bill 184 on Tenancies:

On July 21st, the Ontario government passed Bill 184, the Protecting Tenants and Strengthening Community Housing Act, which includes changes to the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006, and the eviction process at the Landlord Tenant Board. Bill 184 also establishes new procedures for the creation of repayment plans to address arrears to rent payment for tenants. With a moratorium on evictions lifted in August, many tenants and landlords are faced with uncertainty about how Bill 184 will affect tenancies.

Join us as we invite a housing lawyer from Don Valley Community Legal Services to provide an overview of Bill 184, and how this legislation impacts tenancies in the GTA.

This workshop will help tenants, landlords, and housing professionals to understand:

  • The impact of Bill 184 on eviction processes
  • Changes to repayment planning
  • How Bill 184 impacts arrears
  • How the role of the LTB has changed due to the passing of Bill 184
