Best Practices Series – Income Supports & Employment in Housing Services 

This 2-part webinar will focus on expanding participants’ knowledge of income support options for Ontario residents.

During this workshop, we will review Ontario Works (OW) and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), including related benefits that your client(s) may be eligible for. It will also introduce participants to skills and strategies for searching and securing employment opportunities that may be available to clients. 

Participants will hear about employment services and supports, and review approaches for proactively discussing these options with clients.

Participants are invited to engage with these topics during interactive and collaborative sessions.

Eligibility: You must be employed by an agency or organization within Toronto 

Cost: $90/per participant 

Date & Time:  Part I – Wednesday, January 18, 2023, 9:00am to 12:00pm & Part II – Wednesday, January 25, 2023, 9:00am to 12:00pm

During the session, participants will review signs and symptoms commonly present with certain mental illnesses, with the purpose of identification for a more effective response. Participants will review the social determinants of mental health and explore housing and employment options for people with these types of health challenges.

Ending a Tenancy Early   

EYET’s Landlord Engagement Network for Eviction Prevention will be hosting a virtual workshop on  Ending a Tenancy Early. The workshop discusses assignments, sublets and agreement to terminate when a unit is abandoned or when a tenant dies in a unit.

Join EYET as we invite Karly Wilson, staff lawyer at Don Valley Community Legal Services, to support our understanding about Ending a Tenancy Early.

Guest Presenter Information: 

Karly Wilson is a housing lawyer at Don Valley Community Legal Services. She got her start in housing representing non-profit landlords and housing co-operatives. She then moved to tenant-side advocacy, working first at CERA, the Centre for Equality Rights and Accommodation, before joining the housing team Don Valley Community Legal Services in 2021. She now represents tenants facing eviction at the Landlord and Tenant Board.
