East York East Toronto Family Resources (EYET) is a community-based family support agency that has been serving and enriching the lives of individuals and families in Toronto’s east end since 1986. We are a registered charity with an overall annual budget of nearly $8 million.
Every year, thousands of children and adults attend our EarlyON child and family centres, parenting education programs, prenatal nutrition and licensed child care programs. Through our housing service programs, families and individuals regularly turn to EYET for support in finding and maintaining affordable housing, access to food and other essentials of life. By working in close collaboration with community partners, participants/clients, and volunteers, we are able to quickly identify emerging needs and respond with new, innovative and meaningful programs. Position Summary
The Director of Community Programs (the “Director”) is a new senior management role with broad strategic, operational and service area responsibility. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and oversee the development and coordination of all EYET Family Resources (“EYET”) programs and services in accordance with our mandate, strategic and operating plans and in response to community needs. This role has responsibility for input to EYET’s strategic agenda and direct leadership responsibility for the agency’s programming and service delivery. The Director will report to and collaborate with the Executive Director as part of community liaison, overall service planning and program funding requirements. This position will have financial oversight responsibilities for all service delivery areas and provides direct supervision to EYET departmental program managers.
Roles and Responsibilities
- As a member of the EYET Senior Leadership Team, participate in the overall strategic planning and priority-setting for EYET Family Resources, with particular emphasis on program development and service delivery.
- Oversee and be accountable for the development, coordination and continuous improvement of all EYET community programs and services in accordance with its mandate, strategic and operating plans and in response to community needs.
- Work with departmental program managers and members of the EYET administrative management team to ensure that policies, procedures and systems are in place and operate efficiently in support of service delivery requirements.
- Work in collaboration with the manager responsible for human resources and departmental program managers to ensure that each department has a well-developed human resource plan and that qualified staff are available as required to meet EYET’s strategic mandate and current priorities. This includes providing leadership to ensure that all staff have the required resources to fulfill their roles effectively.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director in the development of program and project funding/grant proposals and the negotiation of funding agreements, service contracts or other agreements, as per EYET corporate finance and operating policies.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director in the development, approval and ongoing oversight of departmental operating budgets to advance organizational priorities and/or services.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and manager responsible for finance in preparing and reporting on program and/or project-related operating budgets, as required.
- Communicate in a professional, timely, accurate and respectful manner with individuals, families, staff, funders/regulators, service partners and other community representatives.
- Work effectively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating effective delegation of authority and responsibility.
- Represent EYET Family Resources on city-wide and/or other professional/community committees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years operational leadership experience in a social service or related organizational setting, preferably at a senior level.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s level preferred) in a relevant discipline including social work, education, early child development, family studies, community development or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Toronto systems and service sectors served by EYET, including the program and policy landscape, government process, emerging trends and issues, key stakeholders and partners.
- Exceptional planning and organizational abilities, with a strong capacity for strategic vision and the skilled development and execution of impactful programs.
- Proven track record in managing and leading teams at the management-level with demonstrated ability to engage and motivate other leaders. A transparent, collaborative leadership style, capable of fostering a high-performing team environment is a must
- Strong background in working with funders with a comprehensive understanding of the funding landscape.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in operational budgeting and financial management of programs.
- Fluent in English language – both verbal and written.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position (35 hours/week)
- Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required for community events
- Ability to travel to all work locations locally and to attend meetings and events as needed
