The East York Housing Help Centre can help you with:

Finding a home:

  • Help to apply for subsidized housing or update your application
  • Search housing in private market and search tips
  • Help to apply for an interest-free loan for first and last months’ rent

Eviction prevention:

  • Mediation with the landlord to prevent eviction
  • Connect with legal aid clinic to get free advice from a lawyer
  • Help to apply for an interest-free “Rent-Bank” loan if you have fallen into arrears

Housing stabilization

  • Discuss your issue with your landlord to help resolve your problem
  • Help to apply for rent and/or utility financial support programs
  • Provide social services and community mapping
  • Referral to community agencies

Tenant’s Rights and responsibilities – know your rights:

  • If you have received an eviction notice from your landlord
  • If you have maintenance and repair issues
  • If you are looking for rental housing
